More than just badgers! Somerset Badger Group got involved in a Roe deer rescue in the late night to early morning on Friday 16 December 2022.A call was taken by the 24/7 helpline from a member of the public who saw a roe deer hit by a car in Lopen near South Petherton.
As no other organisation was able to help, Somerset Badger Group attended the site and established that the deer needed treatment.
Contact was made with Secret World Wildlife Resue and the staff on site made a room available and provided initial treatment and pain relief.
The deer arrived just after midnight and by the morning had made a good recovery, meaning that it will hopefully be ready for release over the coming days.
